About Us
Hello and welcome, my name is Chidimma Ozor Commer. One of the identities I am most proud of is being Dr Chima Ozor and the late great Rev Dr Chibuzor Ozor’s daughter. One of the things I learned from my parents was how to be a connector and a soft place for people to land. I learned this through their loving example. Having been born and raised in Nigeria, my parents wed in Nigeria in 1977, and came to the US for my Dad to pursue higher education. The moved to Ann Arbor, MI because my Dad was admitted to the School of Education’s PhD program. As many Africans before them, they thought they would leave shortly after my dad completed his doctorate. Instead, they stayed, had five children, created community, and were/are great examples of being global citizens.
After losing my Dad, my Mom and I thought about his legacy which is how Ozota Legacy Project came to be.
Our mission: Ozota Legacy Project collaborates with community organizations to promote the educational attainment, mental health, and wellness of immigrants, children of immigrants, and other marginalized and historically disenfranchised populations and communities, fostering wholeness and healing.
“Let’s remember we’re connected, may we take care of ourselves and one another.”
